‘Finally got a bit of guts and character’ – Nottingham Forest fans react to Newcastle victory

Nottingham Forest secured their place in the League Cup third round after a hectic victory on the road at Newcastle United on Wednesday evening, with extra-time necessary to progress.

Mark Warburton’s men were dealt an early blow as the hosts’ Aleksandar Mitrovic netted inside the first three minutes before Forest got two in the matter of moments, both from forward Jason Cummings either side of the half hour mark.

The visitors were going into half-time with their heads held high, however, Newcastle’s Rolando Aarons got an equaliser in added time of the first-half to ensure the teams went down the tunnel level pegging.

No goals after the interval meant this fixture would be forced to go into extra-time, which was settled by young attacker Tyler Walker to bring the score line to 3-2, and that would mean Nottingham Forest have made it to the third stage of the tournament.

A number of fans would have been over the moon with the result and here is how they reacted on Twitter after the full-time whistle….
