Many Derby County supporters have been suggesting that the Rams have conducted some excellent business by tying both Jason Knight and Morgan Whittaker to new deals.
The Rams announced on their official club website that the academy graduates have both penned new deals, which will keep them at Pride Park until the end of the 2022/23 season – and that has seen them rewarded for some encouraging performances for Phillip Cocu’s side so far this campaign.
Knight, in particular, has managed to really establish himself as a key part of Cocu’s side over the last few weeks, with the 18-year-old having impressed suitably in a couple of appearances during the first few months of the season, to earn a start in each of the last eight Championship matches.
QUIZ: Can you name these 11 Derby County flops?
The 18-year-old registered his first two goals for the Rams in their 2-1 win against Charlton Athletic at Pride Park at the end of December, and has been a real threat for Cocu’s side in the subsequent games, managing to keep his place in the side ahead of more experienced options.
Whittaker, meanwhile, has also managed to play a part for the Rams this season, making 13 appearances in all competitions so far, most of which have come from the bench, though he did start for Derby in their 1-1 draw at home to Sheffield Wednesday in December and was also a key performer in their 1-0 win at Crystal Palace in the FA Cup third round.
Here then, we take a look at what Derby supporters have made of the two players signing new deals on social media…
