After six-months in caretaker charge, Charlton Athletic have appointed Lee Bowyer as the club’s permanent manager.

The former Addicks player took caretaker charge in March following the sacking of Karl Robinson and helped the League One side make the play-off semi-finals.

The League One side confirmed the news which sees the former caretaker boss become the main man at the Valley on a permanent basis.

Charlton’s fixtures pause due to international call-ups but Bowyer's first official game as first-team manager will be next weekend when they host Wycombe Wanderers.

After an indifferent set of results to start the campaign, winning, losing and drawing two each of their six matches, the club sits 10th in the division, looking to push on.

It is fair to say this decision has garnered a positive reaction from many Addicks fans.
