Nottingham Forest haven't quite had the start that the City Ground faithful would have originally hoped for, with the Reds currently sat 20th in the Championship table.

They were dealt a frustrating injury blow early into this year's campaign as well, with Joe Worrall set for a spell on the sidelines, which saw Tobias Figueiredo come into the starting XI.

But Figueiredo's performances came under-fire after some below-par showings for the Reds, as they continued to struggle in the second-tier.

A recent upturn in results has come at the ideal time for Forest, and it'll be interesting to see whether Figueiredo will retain his place in the starting XI as the season progresses.

Football League World's Nottingham Forest supporter Kevin Marriott issued his thoughts on the potential selection dilemma that Chris Hughton will be faced with when Worrall is to return to action.

"Joe Worrall is hoping to be ready for a return to action by the end of this month after recovering from a foot injury which will have kept him out for two months.

"But will he be able to step straight into Chris Hughton’s starting XI, given the improving form of Tobias Figueiredo at the heart of the Forest defence in recent weeks?

"Figueiredo had a poor, mistake-riddled start to the campaign, struggling badly in the opening two league games of the season against QPR and Cardiff City, both 2-0 defeats.

"His poor form cost him his place against Huddersfield and Bristol City but defeats in those games led to Sabri Lamouchi being sacked – and Figueiredo’s fortunes changed."

Marriott went on to admit that Figueiredo deserves to keep his place in the side, even when Worrall is to return to the starting XI from a spell in the treatment room.

"New boss Hughton restored him to the starting line-up in his first game at Blackburn, where Forest kept their first clean sheet of the season and nicked all three points thanks to Joe Lolley’s injury time strike.

"Since then, Figueiredo has played in all five matches, and his central defensive partnership with new signing Scott McKenna appears to be blossoming. Consistency of selection under a new manager seems to have helped the Portuguese defender."

"On current form, Figueiredo deserves to keep his place. Forest have conceded only five goals in six games, and central defence is one area where the team does not have a problem."

"Worrall is a popular and a highly-rated player at the City Ground and Hughton is thought to be an admirer too. But if Figueiredo maintains his form alongside McKenna, it would be hard to leave him out."

Nottingham Forest are set to return to action after the international break, when they take on Barnsley, in what could be a tricky test for the Reds at Oakwell.
