Ben White has undoubtedly been one of Leeds United's most impressive performers this season.

The centre-back on loan from Brighton, has looked imperious at the heart of the Whites' defence with his composure and ability to pass out from the back certainly catching the eye.

Natuarally, the 22-year-old's impressive displays have garnered interest from an array of top-flight teams, notably Liverpool, who have been linked with him several times over the last few months.

Of course, Leeds will be hoping they can hold onto the player for next season, especially if they achieve promotion to the Premier League, but is it possible? Do you think the Whites have any chance of snapping him up again for next season?

A piece of me still believes Leeds will have a chance of him returning to the club next season, but not as a permanent player.

The rumours of Liverpool and Man City wanting to sign him are growing week-on-week and that, to me, looks like his next destination.

However, that opens the door for Leeds to take him back on loan if they are promoted to the Premier League. Marcelo Bielsa has done some fine work with the 22-year-old so far and these elite clubs will trust Leeds with his development.

His long-term future will lay elsewhere, but short-term, there’s room to be positive.

I think they’re fighting a losing battle with this one.

White has been nothing short of exceptional for Leeds this season, and I’m not surprised to see that the club are keen to tie him down to a new deal.

However, I’m also not surprised to hear that a potential permanent deal is unlikely for White, as Brighton have already made it clear that they’re keen to keep hold of him heading into next year’s campaign.

We’ve already seen the likes of Liverpool register their interest in signing the defender, which gives you an idea as to highly-rated he is at this moment in time.

Leeds will need to turn their attentions to an alternative that is experienced in the Premier League, as the Whites are surely looking at a long-awaited return to the top-flight this term.

It’ll be frustrating for them to miss out on White permanently, but it’s not surprising as he’s destined for bigger and better things in the future.

There is a chance but unfortunately for Leeds, it looks a very, very small one.

White has been sensational this term and is a popular figure among the Elland Road faithful for a season.

But his performances have not been lost on his parent club Brighton, who will have indicated they want to keep hold of him.

The interest from the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City means that even if White does leave the Seagulls this summer it will be tough for Leeds to make sure he joins them.

The one glimmer of hope is that White looks to be loving his football at the Yorkshire club, has settled well in the squad, and will surely know the value of developing under Marcelo Bielsa.
