The Championship campaign is fast approaching its climax with the hunt for the play-off places wide open.

Aston Villa are one of the teams vying for a place in the top-six and guaranteeing at least two more games and a chance at promotion to the Premier League again after last season’s final heartache.

Villa have had a resurgence in form that have seen them win five in a row to be in the hunt for a play-off spot.

One player who has missed out on most of the club’s highlights this season is Jonathan Kodjia.

Hardly a regular, the striker has been made to play out wide for much of the campaign, scoring six goals and registering two assists – and has done neither since the end of December.

Having fallen out of favour somewhat under Dean Smith, here are possible solutions to his troubles in the Midlands come the summer…

Stay at Aston Villa and fight for his place

Just because he is not in Smith’s immediate plans this season, does not mean he won’t be next year.

With loans to return to their parent clubs and players moved on, Kodjia could think about remaining at the club and fighting for his place in the side to prove he has something to offer.

Return to France

Failing that the former Bristol City man could consider a move back to his homeland and look to revive his career.

Kodjia is 29-years-old, so he could have started to consider winding down to his career and head back home with his family to see out his footballing days.

Another Championship side take a chance

A chance in the Premier League looks slim, and he has all the attributes to continue to be a force in the Championship if he finds the right club.

There will be sure to be plenty of suitors for his services if he indeed intends to leave the club in the summer.

Another chance in the second tier as the main man could be the ideal conclusion to the uncertainty surrounding his future.
