Queens Park Rangers will be looking to achieve a play-off challenge next season in the Sky Bet Championship after a promising run in 2021 that has seen them climb up the division.

The Hoops started off this season pretty slowly in the second tier and there were some calls from some sections of the support for Mark Warburton to leave.

However, the manager stuck at it and brought in a 3-5-2 system as well as a handful of very good loan signings in the January window that have seen Rangers climb the standings.

Naturally, then, the hope is for them to build on that next year and really make a go of a play-off challenge but it remains to be seen just how their team is going to line-up.

With that in mind, we're taking an early look at how the Hoops' XI could look next season...

Seny Dieng has been a superb goalkeeper this season for Queens Park Rangers and keeping him for next year will be crucial if they want to achieve a top-six finish in the Championship.

The R's have had problems in goal in recent years but Dieng has been a solid presence and is arguably one of the best at second tier level, so keeping him about is obviously a good idea.

Joe Lumley has shown signs of improvement in recent one-off appearances but Dieng looks that level above at the moment.

Yoann Barbet has had a solid enough season and certainly looks more at home in a back-three than he does in a centre-half partnership.

His current role works well for him with that left foot of his and whilst we've seen him marshall that side of the pitch well with Lee Wallace, we've also seen him being able to provide decent crosses and the odd goal from that area too.

He's a vocal presence and will feature plenty next season too.

De Wijs has had a decent loan spell at QPR and it is expected that he will make his stay permanent this summer.

QPR have an option to make it a permanent deal and there is no reason to suggest that they won't do exactly that this summer.

He's a physical, brave presence in the middle of the defence and though he has had a few fitness problems this year he is a player certainly worth keeping around in the middle of the backline.

Dickie has had a fine season in defence for Queens Park Rangers as he continues his impressive progression up the EFL.

There is a good chance he will be linked with a move away this summer but there is also a considerable chance that he will remain at QPR for another season as the club looks to put together a promotion challenge.

He's a player that immediately looked at home at Championship level and another top campaign for QPR next year could pave the way for a move to the Premier League one way or another.

Wallace has had a good season for Queens Park Rangers, particularly in the last few months.

It's no surprise that the switch to 3-5-2 has seen QPR climb the league table as it's also seemed to unlock a new level of performance from several Rangers players.

Wallace has been brilliant since the move to a wing-back with his lung-busting efforts up and down the left-hand side catching the eye whilst he has also shown good delivery with a number of assists this season in the Championship.

Carroll was arguably QPR's best player in the first half of the season, despite their struggles, and it will be good to see him back involved in the side next year in the middle of the park.

He's a player that is very composed on the ball and we were seeing, or beginning to see, the best of him at QPR at the start of this season.

A lengthy injury effectively ended his campaign but he is not far from a return now with him featuring in a development game recently and he'll certainly be a figure next season for Rangers in the middle of the park.

Field is a player that Mark Warburton likes with the QPR manager already going on the record in saying that he would like to keep the midfielder for next season if he can with him currently on loan from West Bromwich Albion.

Of course, it remains to be seen what the Baggies want to do but he's perhaps the more likely to remain compared to Stefan Johansen who Fulham might want to keep if they come down - though QPR would obviously want to keep him as well.

Dom Ball and Luke Amos will be pushing for a start as well, of course.

Alex Pritchard is a player that Mark Warburton remains keen on and he could perhaps end his Huddersfield spell this season and move to Rangers.

Osman Kakay and Todd Kane have largely featured in this position this season whilst we've also seen Albert Adomah there of late at times but it certainly seems an area that remains up for grabs heading into next year.

Pritchard could feasibly play there if Warburton does end up getting him in.

Chair has had a really productive season and could well be the star of the show next year if he keeps on progressing and performing.

The diminutive Chair is still a little raw in places but certainly has lots of potential and this has been his best campaign to date.

It's probably a bit early for someone to come in for him but he could have a top campaign next season and if QPR do not go up there's every chance he's the next one to move to the Premier League like Ebere Eze did.

Willock is a player that fans and the coaching staff alike love and there will be a hope he is used even more next season.

He's had to bide his time at points this year, particularly in the first half of the campaign, but has become an increasingly used feature in the side and has shown his quality on the ball and end product too.

He's a very handy player and certainly will be involved a lot next season.

Dykes has shown in recent weeks that he could well be the striker Rangers needed after all.

Yes, the first half of the season was below what he would have wanted, of course, but recent weeks have seen him hit a real purple patch and the confidence that will give him to now know he can cut it at this level could be huge.

QPR fans would like to keep Charlie Austin too but whether the finances can be wrangled for that deal to come off remains to be seen.

That said, Dykes is at least more of a certainty to be at the club next year.
