Andy Yiadom has signed for Reading on a free transfer, it was confirmed yesterday.

The 26-year-old puts pen-to-paper on a four-year deal at the Madejski Stadium until the summer of 2022 and he will join as a free agent when his Barnsley deal comes to an end.

Leeds United rivalled Reading for the signing of Yiadom but opted against making a concrete offer for him due to doubts over whether they needed another right-back or right-footed left-back, according to a local journalist.

The Ghana international played 66 games for Barnsley in a two-year stay after joining from Barnet and he has been a Premier League target in the past.

The pacey full-back will now rival Chris Gunter for the starting spot in Reading's line-up.

Reading fans were quite impressed with this early piece of business and praised the speediness of this signing.
