Sheffield United may have fallen away from the automatic promotion spots over the Christmas period, but Chris Wilder’s men remain firmly in the hunt for a top six finish and an end of season playoff outing.

The Blades have impressed since their promotion from the third tier last year, and their dominance of the division has certainly transferred to the higher level, and consecutive promotions are well in reach for the South Yorkshire side.

However the squad is in need of a boost, and with Wilder having already flexed his muscles in the transfer window, a couple more additions could be required to ensure the Blades secure a playoff spot.

With that in mind, Wilder would be mad not to secure this last-ditch transfer business…

Charlie Wyke

The Bradford man has impressed this season following his move from Carlisle United last year, and looks prepared to make the step up to the next level.

Braford have hit a poor patch of form, and with the Bantams playoff hopes in question, a switch to the top end of the Championship will certainly appeal to the forward.

Twelve goals and five assists already to his name, Wyke’s abilities will appeal to Wilder, who could be on the lookout for another forward to add to his attacking arsenal should Ched Evans leave the club in the coming days.

The Blades are no strangers to picking players up from lower down the football pyramid, and Wyke could be the lastest through the doors at Bramall Lane.

Danny Hylton

Hylton is on fire in League Two with league leaders Luton Town, and appears good enough to score goals at all levels of the Football League.

Having already bagged fifteen this season, Hylton has evolved into one of the deadliest strikers in the division, and his goals are looking increasingly likely to fire the Hatters into the third tier this season.

The Blades need one more quality addition up top, and Wilder has his choice between Wyke and Hylton, although Bradford and Luton will fight to hold on to their star men.

The 28-year-old must make a move now at the peak of his career if he is to have an opportunity to prove himself at the higher level, and Wilder should consider a late swoop.
