Norwich City haven't made much of an impact on the promotion race under Daniel Farke this season and after the departure of Alex Pritchard, they need something to lift the mood around the club going into the second half of the season.

The way the Canaries pushed reigning Premier League champions Chelsea all the way in the FA Cup Third Round shows that there is talent in the squad and that the players are still playing for Farke, whose job security has come under scrutiny at times this season.

There are still areas where improvements can be made and with the Pritchard money burning a hole in their pocket, Farke would be foolish not to get into the market between now and February 1.

He may prefer to invest the cash in a new long-term signing in the summer, when the market is better, there are more choices and the club's blueprint for the future is clearer but there is still money there to recruit reinforcements.

We take a closer look...

Sam Field

Norwich have already seen one loan swoop for the promising West Brom midfielder knocked back but after losing the flair and invention of Pritchard, they should go back in for Field.

He would link up well with James Maddison and he must be getting more and more frustrated with the lack of opportunities for first team football on offer at the Hawthorns.

It is a tough place to break through, given the fairly safety-first football they play and the fact that they always seem to be fighting to become safe from relegation as soon as possible.

It's no real place for a young player to develop and half a season in Farke's team could do wonders for him.

Field has looked like he has real potential when I've seen him play and he is well worth pursuing and securing a last-ditch swoop for.

Leonardo Ulloa

Ulloa has looked set for Aston Villa throughout the transfer window but that has always been a saga that would go down to the wire, because any deal for the former Brighton man depends on which other strikers Leicester manage to offload.

His wages won't be insignificant but the sale of Pritchard means that Norwich do have money in their pocket to compete.

With question marks over the future of Nelson Oliveira refusing to go away and Cameron Jerome moving to Derby, a frontman wouldn't go amiss at Carrow Road.

It would be a coup to get a player that Villa have wanted for a long time to be the final piece in the puzzle as they look for promotion and a sign that Carrow Road is still a draw for players.
