Ipswich Town are just about clinging on to the chasing play-off pack but a massive second half to the season is needed if Mick McCarthy’s men are to make the top six.
In fairness, that would be a huge overachievement for the Tractor Boys but whilst the gap remains at six points, there’s always hope.
However, if there is any chance of progressing up the league, you would imagine that McCarthy needs to dip into the market before the deadline.
Whilst he has been busy this month, with Cameron Carter-Vickers and Stephen Gleeson among those to arrive at Portman Road, the former Wolves boss has once again been restricted, relying on loans and free transfers.
Although, with David McGoldrick out of contract in the summer and expected to depart for up to £1m, that might present McCarthy with some funds to play with.
