Festy Ebosele has taken to Instagram to share his thoughts on Derby County's latest display.

The Rams would have been hoping to book their place in the fourth-round of the FA Cup at the weekend by securing a victory over Coventry City in this particular competition.

However, despite showing some signs of promise in this particular fixture, Derby were unable to prevent their opponents from securing victory.

Dominic Hyam gave Coventry the lead in the 42nd minute as he planted a header past Rams goalkeeper Ryan Allsop.

Following the break, Ebosele was denied by a smart save by Ben Wilson.

Allsop headed the ball over the bar in the dying embers of the clash as Derby failed in their attempt to take the game to extra-time.

Derby will be looking to put this defeat behind them when they face Sheffield United at Pride Park on Saturday.

The Rams have accumulated 10 points from their last four league games and thus will be confident of securing a positive result in this particular fixture.

Making reference to his side on Instagram, Ebosele has admitted that he believes that Derby deserved to win their clash with Coventry whilst he also suggested that the club will now be looking to focus on doing everything they can to stay in the Championship.

The 19-year-old posted: "Unfortunate that we’re out of the cup when we were the better team but now it’s time to focus on the league and focus on staying in this division!!"

The Verdict

With Ebosele opting to switch his attention to Derby's battle for survival, it will be intriguing to see whether he is able to play an influential role in the club's bid to avoid the drop.

Utilised as a right-back and as a right-midfielder by manager Wayne Rooney this season, the teenager has already demonstrated that he is capable of producing encouraging performances in the Championship.

However, when you consider that Ebosele is only averaging a WhoScored match rating of 6.59 at this level, it is abundantly clear that he needs to work on his consistency.

By learning from the guidance that Rooney is able to offer, there is no reason why the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international cannot go on to become a regular starter for the Rams in the coming months.
