Leeds United completed the signing of Pontus Jansson last night, reported the club’s official website.

Jansson, who is currently on a season-long loan with the Whites, will join permanently in the summer from Italian club Torino.

The Swedish international has signed a three-year deal with the club from June, meaning he will be contracted to the club until the end of the 2019/20 season.

The 25-year old has established himself as a fan favourite at Elland Road during his 23 appearances for the club.

Jansson comes with a big personality and has struck a connection with the Elland Road crowd- shown by his celebrations, before, during and after games.

Along with centre-half partner Kyle Bartley, Jansson has been part of a side that has kept 11 clean sheets so far this season.

Jansson has scored three goals during his time with the club, the latest coming in the 2-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers, which kept Leeds in the hunt for automatic promotion.

Leeds currently sit fourth in the Sky Bet Championship, and look like mounting a serious promotion push in the last three months of the season.

Up next for the Yorkshire club is derby with neighbours Huddersfield Town, who themselves recorded an impressive 3-1 victory over Brighton last night.

With Jansson putting pen to paper on a new deal, it is sure to energise fans ahead of Sunday’s Yorkshire derby.
