Coventry City's hopes of playing at the Ricoh Arena next season have been handed a huge blow as a European Commission has blocked the plans, as reported by Sky Sports.
Owners SISU have asked a European Commission to look into the sale of the ground by the council to Wasps rugby club. T
hat has prompted current negotiations between the two parties to be put on hold.
It's hugely damaging as a deal was thought to be close following resumption of talks last month. A potential ground share looked to have been avoided and the likelihood of Coventry remaining in their home city increased.
This latest development puts them right back where they started, staring the possibility of playing outside of Coventry in the face.
Whilst the owners, the council and Wasps continue to argue like children, the honest fans are left out in the cold.
The Sky Blues had a good season on the field and looked to be moving towards a brighter future, but as their fans have expressed this morning on social media, that no longer looks possible.
