Sunderland and Portsmouth played out a 0-0 draw in their play-off semi-final second leg, a result that means the Black Cats will be back at Wembley for the final.

In a dour, tetchy game of few chances they were able to hold on to their 1-0 lead from the first leg and although their fans had little to cheer through the 90 minutes, they were left celebrating as they secured a place against either Doncaster or Charlton in the play-off final.

It was a hostile atmosphere at times, with a Pompey fan seemingly kicking Luke O'Nien after he fell into the crowd. It was an unsavoury moment in a game that was much less an example of the 'beautiful game' than any of the other semi-finals we've seen.

That won't bother these supporters though, who have finally seen a dour draw pay off. Draws have been the bane of Sunderland's season and perhaps the reason they didn't finish in the top two, but their ability to avoid defeat has finally paid off.

It might not have been pretty, but they're going to Wembley once again and their supporters on Twitter don't seem to care how they've achieved it.
