Birmingham City return to Championship action on Saturday seeking just their second league win of the season.
Harry Redknapp’s men narrowly avoided relegation from the second tier last term but optimism was renewed over the summer given the 70-year-old’s contract extension, although it has been a testing first few weeks of the season for the Midlands outfit.
The Blues went down 1-0 to Ipswich Town on the opening day but bounced back with victory over Bristol City a week later, although they have not been able to back that up since with a draw against Bolton Wanderers followed by defeats at the hands of Burton Albion and Reading.
Nonetheless, Redknapp was busy on transfer deadline day last week and brought four new players to St Andrew’s, the most high-profile of which was Brentford’s Jota, while teammate Maxime Colin also followed him to Birmingham on the final day of the window.
And the build up to the weekend is well underway as the Blues’ Under-23 side have been in action this afternoon, drawing 1-1 against their Millwall counterparts thanks to Kyle McFarlane’s late leveller.
