Barrie McKay’s Nottingham Forest exit is looming ever closer after Swansea City’s bid was accepted.

The Nottingham Post is reporting that a fee of £500,000 has been agreed between the two Championship with and the transfer expected to be completed within the next 24 hours.

Swansea’s bid of half-a-million pound is the same amount that Forest paid Rangers for the winger’s services last summer.

McKay has fallen out of favour at Forest since the arrival of Aitor Karanka at the City Ground.

And with the plethora of additions during this window, the Scotsman’s involved would be limited once more.

At the start of last season, the 23-year-old was in red-hot form for Forest under Mark Warburton, but inconsistency hit and a dip in form saw his chances limited after that.

Swansea will be adding to their ranks a player who scored five goals in 28 appearances for Forest as manager Graham Potter continues to rebuild his side ahead of the new campaign starting this weekend.

The Verdict

Swansea getting McKay for £500,000 is an absolute steal.

Despite a dip in form, the winger is a magician on the ball if he is capable of recapturing his early season form from last year, the Welsh side will have a real player on their hands.

It didn’t work out under Karanka at Forest, and that is football, but McKay will need to go to Wales and show the fans what he can do - and he can do it.

All the attributes are there for him to be a top player in this division.

Graham Potter’s man-management could be the potential key to unlocked the untapped potential of McKay
