This week's selections:

Pick #1

Derby v Nottingham Forest - 17/01/15 @ 12:15 GMT

5 PT STAKE - Derby WIN @ 1.727

2 PT STAKE - Derby WIN TO NIL @ 2.875

Steve McClaren has been extremely busy this transfer window bolstering the squad, the additions of Warnock and Ssewankambo give the Rams boss more defensive options and certainly will go a long way in motivating the current defensive line up into action in their early kick-off on Saturday. With 6 clean sheets from their 12 games at the iPro stadium, The Rams are almost as impressive at the back as they are going forward, having netted 8 goals in their last 4 to zero reply.

With Darren Bent joining the club, Derby possess a proven goal scorer in English football to add to the 18 goals of their prolific frontman Chris Martin, which should only improve their impressive record of averaging 2.25 goals per game at home. Against a side such as Stuart Pearce's struggling Forest I can only see Derby edging 3 points nearer to their ever increasingly likely place in the Premier League next season. Forest have now lost their last 4 league fixtures on the bounce in a damaging slump of form that is fairly likely to cost former England U21 international boss Pearce his job come Monday.

Pick #2

MK Dons v Sheffield United

6 PT STAKE - Sheff Utd +1 HANDICAP @ 1.909 (Boylesports)

Personally I think Sheffield Utd are a little overpriced in this market for their trip to Stadium MK. This is the third meeting between the two sides in the 2014/2015 season and the Blades have already won this fixture 2-1 in the Capital One Cup alongside having won their last two games 3-0 vs Premier League QPR and 2-1 over promotion rivals Preston North End. Chuck in the fact that the Dons have won just 1 of their last 4 games at home alongside scraping a 90th minute equaliser against lowly Crewe Alexandra last Saturday and it's clear to see that the form suggests their Yorkshire opposition has a real shot at getting a result here.

Something that definitely won't help the cause of the Dons is losing out on the last few months of their loan contract with 21 year old striker Benik Afobe, leaving a huge hole in the attacking threat of the Midlands side. Without the goals of Afobe MK Dons would be 7 points worse off and far less likely to be staking their claim for one of the automatic promotion berths. They will surely miss Afobe's pace, power and natural goal scoring ability, perhaps leaving the door open to Sheffield Utd, who've conceded more than 1 goal on just 6 of 23 occasions so far this season, the chance to claim at least a point on Saturday.

Pick #3

4 PT STAKE TRIXIE (1 PT x 4 BETS)

Bradford WIN @ 2.700

The Bantams will be full of confidence after a 4-0 win over Championship opposition Millwall in the FA Cup and face a Yeovil side who have lost their last 5 home fixtures in League One 0n the trot.

Burton WIN @ 2.875

Seemingly unbeatable at home, Burton have been poor on the road but can put that right against a Pompey side they've already beaten 2-0 this season who haven't won in League One since November.

Reading WIN @ 2.875

Reading have a new found resilience at the back and in-form keeper Adam Federici was pivotal to the clean sheet versus Championship high flyers Middlesbrough last weekend. Back the Royals to extend their unbeaten run to 5 games with a win over struggling Fulham, a team the Berkshire club have already beaten 3-0 this season.
