After a very up and down season for Leeds United, the club now look safe as they sit in mid-table in the Sky Bet Championship, and current manager Neil Redfearn can now concentrate on next season and the players that they could potentially sign in the summer transfer window.

As discussed below, these are the FIVE players who Leeds United should sign ahead of the 2015/16 Championship season.

Jack Butland

Despite Marco Silvestri being a very good goal keeper, I still think that the club could do with a better shot stopper. Therefore, a perfect replacement would be former loanee, Jack Butland.

Butland could be a good signing for Leeds

The England under 21 goalkeeper isn’t getting much game time at Stoke City thanks to the main stay keeper Asmir Begovic, so I believe bringing the former Birmingham City man back to Elland Road would be a very smart move.

Liam Moore

Moving into the defensive part of the team now and I believe that the club needs a good, young centre back who knows the Championship quite well despite his age. For that reason, I think that Liam Moore would be a good addition to the squad.

Leeds have conceded 46 goals in 37 games so far this season thanks to their defensive issues. Moore who is currently out on loan at Brentford where he is trying to help their push for promotion. This speaks volumes for the 22-year-old as it shows that he has what it takes to handle the pressure of the tough promotion and play off battle.

Jamie O'Hara

Despite the defensive worries at the club, I believe that the midfield will be somewhere that the club needs to develop vastly over the summer. With the expected departure of Alex Mowatt, Leeds would be short of creative midfielders.

For that reason, Leeds United should sign Jamie O’Hara from soon to be relegated club, Blackpool.

O’Hara is a composed midfielder with a wicked left foot and is the sort of player that Leeds are looking for. Having fallen out with the manager and owners at Wolverhampton Wanders, O’Hara moved to Blackpool when Lee Clark took over as they tried to maintain their Championship status.

However, despite some decent performances for the bottom of the table side, O’Hara just hasn’t been able to sort the club out. As Leeds have a defensive midfielder in the shape of Rodolph Austin, somebody like O’Hara who can go forward and produce the final pass or final finish to a move would be an excellent addition to Redfearn’s squad.

Serge Gnabry

Leeds United should also consider a move for Arsenal midfielder Serge Gnabry. As for the 19 year old German winger Gnabry, I believe this is what Leeds have been missing since the departure of Max Gradel a few season ago.

Gnabry would be a great addition to Leeds

The Arsenal wide man has just recovered from injury and due to the plethora of talent at the north London club, I don’t believe he will make it into the squad next year and that is where Leeds would come in.

Having lacked creative flair from a winger this season, I am sure fans would be thrilled by the pace and trickery that the German under 19 international would be able to offer them as well as his goal scoring ability.

Sone Aluko

Finally, in the striker position, I believe that the club once again needs to inject a bit of pace in order for them to produce more goals. Having only scored 39 goals all season, a striker with the natural ability to finish from any angle is a must.

Aluko has Premier League experience

For that reason ,my suggestion would be Sone Aluko from Steve Bruce’s Hull City. The forward has found it difficult to cement a full time spot in the first team this year thanks to the addition of Abel Hernandez and recently Dame N’Doye who has gone straight into the team.

Aluko, who started his career at Birmingham City, similar to my goalkeeper suggestion, Jack Butland, but he failed to make a first team appearance for the midlands club. However, he was a prolific goal scorer in Scotland with Rangers where he scored 12 goals in 21 club appearances.

Therefore, I believe that the current Nigeria international would be a very good signing for the club.
