After a convincing 3-1 win over rivals Preston North End yesterday, Sheffield Wednesday seem to be finding their rhythm having won four games in a row, which has not happened since 2012 when they were in Sky Bet League One.

A lot has happened at Hillsborough since the takeover of Thai businessman Dejphon Chansiri, along with a new manager and a large number of signings. It made one think how the Owls' season would pan out having gone through so much change in so little time.

At this moment in time it looks as though it is all gelling together and momentum is being formed. Things are looking up.

The current boss Carlos Carvalhal told the Sheffield Star: 'This is the Championship, the teams all the time believe they can change the score. It’s most important that we win, we are in a sequence of a lot of games.'

'After the break we controlled the midfield better and got the second goal. The first goal was very important to us, at the break we were planning to try and correct everything. Everything belongs to the players; we have a fantastic group.'

A very upbeat and realistic Carvahal who seems to be adapting to Championship life rather well can be pleased with his side’s recent performances and, most importantly, their results.

It begs the question - are Sheffield Wednesday serious promotion candidates?

Having moved up to tenth place and just three points shy off the playoffs, it seems to be all going in the right direction for the Owls to capitalise on their form, and continue to keep in touch with those above them in the table.

Three consecutive wins is no mean feat in this division - it takes high-level performances and moments of individual brilliance to achieve it. This is clearly something that Wednesday possess. They've shown that in recent weeks.

If they do miss out on promotion this year though, there is a lot of potential for next year’s campaign.

Their owner Chansiri has shown ambition and intention for the club with some of the signings he has made, and also the intention on the ones he has missed out on, such as Norwich City striker Gary Hooper.

Only time will tell but it can be said for the Wednesday fans that they have a lot more optimism which has been missing in recent years.
