Reading have a fantastic academy that has produced players such as Gylfi Sigurdsson and Shane Long and players in their squad in the moment like Alex Pearce, Jem Karacan and Jordan Obita.

Here's THREE young players Reading must promote to the first-team

After a pretty appalling season for the Royals, it doesn't look like they'll be going down. It does, however, look like the squad may be getting a face lift in the summer, with Steve Clarke already hinting at quite a few departures and arrivals.

But in my opinion, Clarkey should also cast an eye over to the academy before spending however much cash the new Thai owners are willing to give him, so here are three youth products I think should be regulars next season.

Dominic Samuel

This guy is tearing League One up at the moment where he is on loan at Coventry City and has six goals in eleven appearances.

Samuel has impressed at Coventry City on loan

He offers pace up front which Reading are dying for at the moment, although they have been linked with a move for quick Crystal Palace striker Kwesi Appiah today.

The Coventry Telegraph have actually said that Samuel is the best striker loan at the Sky Blues since David McGoldrick in the 2012/2013 season.

Reading's forwards haven't been in good form this season. Their top scorer is Simon Cox with eight goals, although he hasn't scored in 2015. Pavel Pogrebnyak only has six goals this year, whilst in form Jamie Mackie is only on loan at the Royals.

A young goalscorer would therefore not go amiss and not only that I like his attitude. He grew unhappy whilst Nigel Adkins was in charge and demanded first team football. Adkins told him he needed to improve his attitude to gain a place.

Now, everytime he scores, we see a post on twitter of how he's proving people wrong or something similar. I like that a lot in a player. He wants to play. I hope he does next year.

Aaron Kuhl

The 19-year-old had Manchester City chasing him at the beginning of last year with a £2 million price tag placed on his head.

He was heavily involved at the start of the season and I for one was very impressed. He has a great passing ability and plays in more of a defensive role, which is great.

Unfortunately for Kuhl we currently have a wealth of central midfielders at the club with Oliver Norwood, Jem Karacan, Danny Williams, Nathaniel Chalobah, Hope Akpan and Danny Guthrie all ahead of him but I think he's better then a fair few of those players.

Kuhl is clearly an incredible talent I think he really should be heavily involved next year in order to help him grow and flourish as a footballer because I think he's definitely ready.

Tarique Fosu

It's beyond me why Fosu hasn't ever been included in the Reading squad because he is an extremely talented footballer.

Fosu looks set for a bright future

He's got incredible feet and can score some incredible goals. Hal Robson-Kanu has been very inconsistent on the left wing this year and they could use a player like Fosu to be able to rotate the two.

I watched the 19-year-old play against Fulham in the youth cup last year and he was one of the best players on the pitch. We may have lost, but plenty of Reading players showed their class and Fosu was one of those. His blistering pace would scare me if I was a defender.

The only problem is his lack of experience, he's only ever played in the academy teams at Reading and has never experienced first team football. That would be the only problem with blooding him into the first team.
