FC Twente star Kamohelo Mokotjo has rejected the chance to sign for Sky Bet Championship side Brentford, according to the Times Live.
The former PEC Zwolle star was very impressive for FC Twente last season, but despite that they’re ready to move him on, as they struggle financially with a €60 million debt hanging over their head.
It’s thought that Mokotjo would struggle to get a work permit for the UK anyway, but he doesn’t want to drop down to second tier level, with the Bees missing out on promotion to the Premier league last year.
He was looking set to be the marquee signing at Griffin Park this summer, and knew of the new Bees manager Marinus Dijkhuizen well, due to his work in the Dutch leagues.
Brentford are aiming to keep their star players from last year after losing out in the play-offs last term, and are hoping to add to what they have, rather than replace what they have.
