Adam Matthews notched his first goal of the season at the 19th attempt at the weekend when he scored Sunderland’s equaliser last Saturday against Bristol Rovers.

The right-back finished off a free-flowing attack from the home side which included six quick passes from right to left before Rovers keeper Jack Bonham parried a curling effort into the 26-year-old’s path.

It was a vital header for Matthews who’s goal came in added time at the end of the first-half.

And Sunderland tweeted a video to the build-up to the goal after the win at the weekend that kept Jack Ross’ side third in League One after the 2-1 win over the managerless strugglers.

That set the tone for the Black Cats who took the lead for the first time four minutes after the break through Josh Maja who notched his 12th goal of the campaign to secure the points.

But it was the build-up to Matthews goal that got the fans talking on social media.

With that said, here’s how the Sunderland supporters reacted to the video of Matthew’s goal and the build-up posted by the club’s media.
