Sunderland have reportedly accepted an offer from Hull for captain George Honeyman and many Black Cats fans seem happy to see him leave.

Honeyman played an important role for Jack Ross’ side last season, making 44 appearances, scoring eight goals, and taking the captain’s armband.

The Sunderland academy graduate only has one year left on his deal at the Stadium of Light but it appears he could leave before the transfer window shuts on the 8th of August.

According to Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie, the Black Cats have accepted an offer for their captain.

The Shields Gazette has reported that the fee for the player is in the region of £400,000, including both the initial payment and add ons.

New Hull City boss Grant McCann has made five signings this summer after replacing Nigel Adkins, who left at the end of the 2018/19 season, and it looks as though Honeyman may become his sixth.

The 24-year-old has made 97 appearances for the Black Cats senior side after developing through the club’s youth sides.

Despite being a home-grown talent and the current club captain, many Sunderland fans appear happy to see the Englishman depart this summer.
