Sheffield Wednesday have completed the signing of free agent Nathaniel Mendez-Laing.

The 29-year-old left Middlesbrough at the end of last season and has been without a permanent home since then.

Spending some time training with The Owls, Darren Moore has today pulled the trigger and brought the winger into his side, in what all at Sheffield Wednesday hope will be a promotion push.

Mendez-Laing appeared just nine times for Boro last year, with the exciting winger starting just two games under Neil Warnock.

Prior to that, he played a more productive role within the ranks at Cardiff City, playing 27 times for The Bluebirds and scoring three goals.

He also provided four assists during a season where he played an integral role at times.

During the 2018/19 season, Mendez-Laing scored four times and grabbed an assist in 20 Premier League matches, in what was his first and only campaign in England's top-flight.

The winger arrives at Hillsborough with The Owls one place and two points below the League One play-offs, with the objective of promotion likely to be apparent to him.
