Plenty of Reading fans have reacted on social media after the club announced that former defender John O'Shea has rejoined the club as a first-team coach ahead of the 2019/20 season.

The 38-year-old ended his playing career with the Royals last season and became a hugely popular figure at the club.

O'Shea joined Reading on a one-year deal last summer, after seven years with Sunderland and went on to make eleven appearances for the Royals in all competitions.

The defender came off the bench for the final few moments of the goalless draw with Birmingham City at the Madejski Stadium on the final day of last season, ending his playing career.

O'Shea won ten major trophies for Manchester United as a player, including five Premier League titles and the Champions League, and won 119 senior caps for the Republic of Ireland.

The defender will now join Reading manager Jose Gomes and his team of Portuguese coaching staff at the Madejski Stadium for the 2019-20 season.

Plenty of Reading fans took to social media to react to the appointment of O'Shea, with many of them pleased with the decision and expecting him to play an important role for the club behind the scenes.
