Jack Grealish might not be leaving this summer after all, according to reports.

According to journalist Neil Moxley - reported via the Twitter account @villareport - Steve Bruce wants Grealish to stay and play a central role next season.

And the 22-year-old is also keen on remaining with his boyhood club despite growing Premier League interest.

Tottenham Hotspur were thought to be leading the chase for Grealish as his Aston Villa departure looked increasingly inevitable due to Financial Fair Play regulations.

The exciting attacking midfielder is Aston Villa's prize asset and would have commanded the biggest transfer fee, but after new investment in the club, there is a growing sense of optimism that the Villans might be able to keep Grealish.

The England under-21 international scored three goals and provided six assists for team-mates last season and now Bruce is hoping that he can add to those figures by playing a major role in a promotion bid.

Bruce wants to build a squad around Grealish, if the Aston Villa academy product does remain at the club this summer.

The Verdict

Amid all the doom and gloom at Aston Villa, this is fantastic news.

If Grealish does stay, you could see him hitting double figures in goals and assists next season as he continues to improve his end product.

Loyalty is hard to come across these days but no one can question Grealish's commitment to Villa - the team he grew up supporting and loves to play for.
