Reports have suggested that Ligue 1 may be decided by how the table looked at the midway point in the season, which has drawn an excited response from Sheffield Wednesday fans.

The French Prime Minister announced yesterday that no sporting events could take place until Septemeber, which means the Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 seasons will be unable to resume.

It has been reported by RMC Sport (via ESPN) that one of the methods for determining the final league position in Ligue 1 is by the standings at the midway point in the season when everyone had played each other once.

If that same approach were to be taken in the Championship, it would mean that West Bromwich Albion would finish as champions, with Leeds United in the second automatic promotion spot.

Wednesday would finish third, with Fulham, Preston North End, and Brentford making up the rest of the play-off places.

Depending on the EFL's stance that reshuffle could see the Yorkshire club promoted in third place.

That would be a dramatic change in fortunes for the Owls, who have suffered a dreadful drop in form over the past few months.

Garry Monk's side have won just twice in their last 14 Championship games, a run that has seen them slide to 15th.

Has Fernando Forestieri done these 11 things at Sheffield Wednesday? Have a go now!

The suggestion has drawn an excited response from fans of the Yorkshire club, many of whom have taken to Twitter to express their thoughts.
