Bristol City boss Lee Johnson has been discussing the fantastic education that going up against Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola has given him.

Johnson is the longest-serving coach currently in the Championship, with him looking to crack the code and steer Bristol City into the play-offs this season.

As well as rubbing shoulders with some big names in the Championship, Johnson has taken on some Premier League clubs in the FA Cup.

He oversaw an famous victory over Manchester United in the League Cup in 2017, whilst later in the competition, the Robins were knocked out of the semi-finals by Manchester City.

Despite mixed success, Johnson has commented on what he learnt going up against Mourinho and Guardiola.

Sitting down with the Anthony Hudson Masterminds podcast, Johnson said: “We've been lucky enough to have good cup runs and go against the likes of Mourinho's Manchester United and Guardiola's Manchester City, it's been a fantastic education for me, the last four years, and long may it continue."

QUIZ: Can you name the mascot of these 40 EFL clubs?

There are nine games of the Championship season remaining, with Johnson looking to help the Robins break into the play-offs.

Currently, Bristol City are a point adrift of sixth, but the season is on hold, with no resume date confirmed.

The Verdict

Johnson will learn a lot in the Championship, but it won’t compare to what he will learn going up against Mourinho and Guardiola.

Over their career, both have had huge success across Europe, which has led them to England, where they’ve been exceptional.

You can’t question the pair and what they will have done for Johnson’s know-how.
