New Sheffield Wednesday manager Jos Luhukay faces a baptism of fire on Friday as the Steel City derby takes place at Bramall Lane.

The Owls will be hoping to inflict revenge on their bitter rivals on Friday night, and new Wednesday boss Luhukay has some big decisions to make ahead of the clash.

One main dilemma for the Dutchman will be whether to scrap the 4-4-2 formation that the Owls have become so accustomed to this season under the tutelage of Carlos Carvalhal.

Should Luhukay scrap the 4-4-2 for Friday?

We discuss....

Chris Gallagher

Fans will certainly hope so!

It was a big criticism of Carvalhal that he failed to change the formation, especially when they were on such a poor run.

Luhukay will need time to assess the players and will work accordingly. There’s no right or wrong style to go with but the new manager needs to be flexible.

Samuel Preston

He has to try something different.

It will energise the fans, who became so frustrated with Carvalhal's insistance on 4-4-2, and the players, who will respond to new ideas.

A bit of experimentation from a new manager is to be expected and that might just start in the Steel City derby on Friday night.

George Dagless

I think he'll go more gung-ho than Carvalhal.

The Owls' new boss has made noises about going for football that wins things and so that suggests an attacking approach.

The 4-4-2 will surely be binned, then, and perhaps a more fluid 4-3-3 or something will come in.

Luke Randall

There will be change.

Their new boss was fond of the 4-2-3-1 formation during his time at Stuttgart with the two defensive-midfielders a key part of his plans.

For a disciplinarian that builds his side on solidity at the back, he'll have them well organised as they look to stop the opposition from scoring.

A manager who very much plays to the situation.

Alfie Burns

I think we could see a 4-2-3-1 formation under the Dutchman.

Carvalhal’s insistence on sticking with a 4-4-2 formation was part of his downfall, and I don’t believe that Luhukay will make that same mistake.

4-4-2 is a formation of the past and Luhukay would be foolish to stick with it.
