Victor Orta is expected to quit Leeds United and return to Spain.

According to a report from El Periodico, the Leeds man is well in contention to take over at Deportivo as Director of Football.

Is this good news for the Whites?

This is great news for Leeds United.

Mistakes from last summer need to be avoided and the first step towards doing that is to give more transfer power to the manager.

Orta made some very poor signings last summer and a new Director of Football needs to be a priority so that Leeds have a policy in place ahead of next season.

This will be well received by Leeds’ supporters, as Orta’s success rate with recruitment this season has been poor.

Leeds fans see the Spaniard as a meddler, who could well have disrupted things at Elland Road this season.

However, Andrea Radrizzani needs to move quickly, should Orta leave, as he will not want a potential departure to disrupt Leeds’ summer recruitment.

Very good news for Leeds fans.

There were many reasons for Leeds failings this season however the chief one is that the players signed weren't good enough. Too many weren't even anywhere near good enough.

If managers are judged on results, as a key figure in recruitment, Orta should be judged on signings.

Even though he hasn't been sacked, Leeds fans will just be glad to see he has gone.

They'll be dancing in the streets!

Orta has signed some decent looking young players but, where it counts, he's badly let himself and the club down.

Too many of his gambles have not paid off and it has left the squad looking very imbalanced ahead of this summer.

Leeds fans won't miss him.
