The Nottingham Forest Supporters Trust has urged owner Fawaz Al Hasawi to reconsider his decision to end takeover talks with an American consortium, according to a report by ITV News.
In a statement to the owner, the trust has urged Fawaz to get back round the table with the consortium led by John Jay Moores, as we as urging the owner to give assurances over the clubs future. The open letter to the owner stated:
“Our club needs to draw a line under the poor performances and leadership on and off the pitch and the takeover gave us that chance. So we urge Fawaz and JJM to get back round the table and find a way of concluding the deal.”
The statement also asked some direct questions to the owner:
“Can you assure us that you remain financially committed to the football club? Can you assure us that we will not be selling the players we need to keep us in the championship and that we will be active in the transfer market? Can you make it clear who is running the football club on a day to day basis?
In the interests of our great club, please open up.”
The statement is a clear indication of the unrest last nights news has caused, with Forest now in limbo over their future as well as their immediate Championship status.
