Tonight i’ll be interviewing myself about Leeds United‘s chance in the upcoming season in the Championship, through the eyes of someone brought up as a Leeds fan from the early late 1990’s.
What are my expectations of the upcoming season?
Don’t get relegated. Pessimistic I know but with the arrival as David Hockaday and the influx of Serie A/B players I don’t feel confident about the upcoming season. I think Leeds will finish mid table, like last season, but it will be a close shave.
What do I think of the summer business so far?
I honestly don’t know. Stuart Taylor as back up goalkeeper doesn’t inspire me but with Marco Silvestri, Tommaso Bianchi and Souleymane Doukara I know nothing about them so it wouldn’t be right for me to pass judgment on them before seeing them play. I feel like Leeds need strengthening a lot in pretty much all areas of the pitch.
Who will be our star player next season?
Hard decision. If McCormack was still here then it would be him but following his departure I feel like the wingers Leeds bring in could be instrumental in Leeds’ success, especially if Matt Smith plays. If Hockaday plays Smith then I think a lot of the goalscoring responsibilities will fall on his shoulders.
Who will be the breakout star next season?
Chris Dawson. Billed to become a big star for Leeds in the upcoming season. Given a good pre season run out and an opportunity in the league Dawson has the potential to be instrumental next season. Failing that Alex Mowatt should be able to build on his solid first season as a professional.
What game am I looking forward to the most?
Huddersfield at home. Always nice to get one over your noisy neighbours and I will remind them of the fact that we hammered them 5-1 last season during one of our darkest hours.
