In the next piece in the Football League World fans preview series it's time to turn our attentions to Coventry City.

After recovering well from a points deduction last season, the Sky Blues struggled in the second half of the season after losing star striker Leon Clarke to Wolves. It's been a tough summer for Coventry with several star players leaving.

With myself being a Coventry City fan, I answered some key questions ahead of the new season.

What are your expectations for this season?

Really hard to tell after the events of the summer. On the one hand, we have lost five of our star players from last season and at the moment we look set for another season at Northampton. On the other, we still have one of the best managers in the division, made some quietly impressive signings and potentially could be playing back at the Ricoh Arena next season.

In short, if we're in Northampton next season, I predict lower mid-table. If we are back in Coventry automatic promotion would not be entirely out of the window given the quality of the division this season.

What do you think of your summer business so far?

Aside from the outgoing business, which has disappointingly saw us lose Joe Murphy, Cyrus Christie, Blair Adams, Franck Moussa and Callum Wilson who were all first-choice last season, Steven Pressley's made a few impressive signings.

Reda Johnson is our new captain and has proven himself at a higher level than the third-tier, he could help improve our defensive record from last season. I'm really excited about the signing of Jim O'Brien from Barnsley. He's another who has played well at times in the Championship, he looks like a real hard-worker and exactly the type of player who could excel in our high energy pressing game.

Who will be your star player this season?

John Fleck Coventry
John Fleck impressed for most of last season for Coventry

Out of the players left from last season, I would say John Fleck. He was in peerless form for most of last season before suffering a complete loss of form in the final months. On his day he can do everything you want from a midfielder, he can read the game well, beat players with the ball at his feet and his passing is by a long way the best in League One. The one thing missing from his game is goals, but to be honest, if he can just show the form he did at the start of last season then it wouldn't matter if he failed to score for the entire campaign.

Who will be your breakout star this season?

I've got high hopes for Aaron Phillips, a young right-back. He got his chance for a small window last season when Cyrus Christie got injured in October. He scored a dramatic late goal against Wolves to earn us a point at Molineux, since then he's been a favourite for the few who have seen him play. He absolutely loves a sliding tackle and he's a good defender from full-back, something we lacked last season. However given that we've signed a few defenders, he could find his opportunities limited by Jordan Clarke or Jordan Willis who have more first-team experience than him.

What game are you looking forward to most?

Every Coventry City fan is hoping that the game to look forward to will be Sheffield United, our first home game. Rumours are circulating that SISU, the club's owners, are willing to negotiate a rental deal at the Ricoh Arena, hopefully it will be in time for the first home league game against the season.

If that doesn't happen then probably the MK Dons away game, slightly ironic given our current situation. That fixture has twice now provided some wonderful memories, Franck Moussa's wonder-goal in 2012/13 or last season when Chris Maguire scored two identical free-kicks on his Coventry debut to win the game. We always are able to bring a bumper away following.
