Famara Diedhiou sends Bristol City message after striking fresh transfer agreement

Famara Diedhiou has expressed his gratitude to Bristol City and their supporters after finalising a move away from the club.

The striker completed a permanent move to Turkish side Alanyaspor after agreeing a four-year contract with the club following the end of his contract at Ashton Gate.

The 28-year-old has spent the last four years playing with the Robins and has carved out quite a reputation after some impressive returns in front of goal.

Diedhiou found the net on 51 occasions in his 169 appearances for the club, a strike rate that equates to an average of just over 12.5 per season.

The Senegal international had plenty of interest in his services over recent months with the likes of Middlesbrough and West Bromwich Albion both said to be keen on a move for the player, however it will be Turkey where Diedhiou is heading as he looks to enjoy a fruitful next chapter in his career.

Upon completing the deal, the striker took to social media to share a message with his followers and found time to praise his former employers following his time at the club.

Taking to social media, Diedhiou said: “New chapter new colour. Ready to start with Alanyaspor. Massive thanks to everyone, especially Bristol City and their fans.

“Time to move and write a new chapter.”

The verdict

This is a really exciting challenge for Famara Diedhiou.

Of course a move to another club in the Championship will surely have been appealing but a move to Turkey will give him the chance to challenge himself in a different league with different players.

His time with Bristol City was really successful and if he can replicate that sort of goal record over the next four years then his new employers will no doubt be very happy.
