Leeds United took a gigantic step towards automatic promotion to the Premier League at the weekend, with a 1-0 win over Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday at Elland Road.

Marcelo Bielsa's men would have known that a win over their local rivals would have seen them move three points clear of Sheffield United, who dropped points against Millwall earlier on in the afternoon.

The atmosphere at Elland Road between two rivals is electric at the best of times, but the home supporters took it up another level at the weekend, as they roared their team to a massive victory.

Jack Harrison's goal caused delirium inside Elland Road, creating an atmosphere that even the most unlikeliest of people paid tribute to after the game.

Sheffield Wednesday manager Steve Bruce issued high praise on the Leeds fans, saying to the Yorkshire Evening Post: "The way the crowd are reminded me of what it was 20 years ago. You'd fancy them with the four games they've got. With what they've got going for them they've got an outstanding chance."

"What a place to have my 900th game. Abused from the moment I got off the bus! Nothing's changed. I hate to say it but the atmosphere was fantastic."

To have a rival manager say that about your support shows how extraordinary the atmosphere was inside Elland Road at the weekend, with Leeds in a fantastic position for promotion with just four games left to play.
