Everton are hopeful of reaching an agreement 'soon' for Norwich City's Max Aarons, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Canaries' full-back has been attracting plenty of attention so far this term with the Toffees and Tottenham Hotspur both said to be keen on a move for the player.

West Ham United have also emerged as a contender to sign the player.

The 21-year-old is seen as one of the hottest prospects outside of the Premier League but with Norwich City securing promotion in the last week there was a feeling that Daniel Farke's side may be able to keep hold of the player.

However according to Romano, Carlo Ancelotti's side are in 'advanced talks' with the player with an agreement potentially on the way to being agreed.

Taking to Twitter, Romano said: "Everton are leading the race to sign Max Aarons - advanced talks and negotiations progressing for the right back.

"Many clubs are interested as Max Aarons will leave Norwich in the summer - Everton have started contacts since February and hope to reach an agreement soon."

The verdict

This doesn't sound like good news for Norwich City.

It's no surprise that Max Aarons is attracting such substantial interest after a wonderful couple of seasons for the Canaries.

However supporters will surely be disappointed at the prospect of losing the player immediately after securing promotion.

A switch to the Toffees is bound to be appealing for the player and so it'll be interesting to see whether this one comes off in the coming weeks, but given how reliable a source Fabrizio Romano is it's probably best to take him at his word.
