Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Liverpool have a long-standing interest in Watford forward Ismaila Sarr.

According to the journalist’s exclusive column with Caught Offside, the Reds are not ready to pursue a move for the Senegal international.

The 24-year old sparked further discussion over his future with the Championship side following his wonderful strike to give his side the lead on Monday night against West Brom.

But the Premier League club are not yet considering making a move for Sarr this window despite their interest.

It is understood that it would take a considerable offer for Watford to sanction a sale, but the club is open to the possibility of him leaving this summer.

Romano has claimed that a surprise move for the player could come to fruition from Liverpool, but that it is unlikely.

Sarr is seen as a good fit for Jurgen Klopp’s side, who are currently in the process of overhauling their forward line with the arrival of Darwin Nunez and the departure of Sadio Mane.

But given the team’s other attacking options, in Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota, a move for the player is not seen as a priority addition to the team as of now.

The Verdict

Sarr’s performances in the opening two games of the season have shown his quality so it would come as no surprise to see him earn a Premier League move this summer.

If Watford can hold on to the forward then Rob Edwards’ side will surely be the favourites to earn promotion to the top flight.

But it could take a sizable fee as there is seemingly no desire from Watford to push for a sale of one of their key assets.

Given Emmanuel Dennis could also go for a big transfer sum, the Championship club appear to hold the cards going into the final weeks of the window.
