West Brom's Matheus Pereira is set to undergo a medical in Paris ahead of a potential move to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

Romano's tweet states that after his medical in Paris he will head to Saudi Arabia to sign a deal, with the move progressing very quickly at this stage.

Pereira was subject to a £6 million bid from the Saudi Arabian champions back in July, but it was rejected by the newly-relegated Championship club.

Since then, Premier League interest has continued to accumulate for the 25-year-old, but this latest development sees Pereira edging closer to a move outside of England.

The attacking midfielder contributed to almost half of all West Brom's goals last season, scoring 11 and assisting a further six.

Pereira temporarily joined The Baggies in 2019 from Benfica, before making that move permanent in 2020, following an excellent campaign during West Brom's promotion-winning season.

The verdict

Matheus Pereira has been so instrumental for The Baggies since his 2019 arrival and he has now proved himself in the Premier League, making a move to a much less competitive league in Saudi Arabia, a strange one to me.

Pereira stepped up to England's top tier exceptionally last year, contributing directly to 17 goals, and proved to be a real talismanic figure.

I cannot help but feel that he has unfinished business to attend to in the Premier League or even one of Europe's top five divisions, but that will have to hold for now it seems.

Pereira will surely go on to enjoy a very good season with Al-Hilal, if the move does go ahead.
