Fulham loan star Joachim Andersen is hoping to stay in the Premier League next season, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

The central defender has enjoyed an excellent season under Scott Parker after making 31 appearances for the Whites during their return to the top flight.

Despite his individual displays, Andersen hasn't been able to stop Fulham from suffering relegation which means that the prospect of completing a permanent move to Craven Cottage from French side Lyon is highly unlikely.

Reports from The Sun have claimed that both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on a move for the 24-year-old, however the duo both look likely to face significant competition for his signature.

Fabrizio Romano is someone who has his finger on the pulse with regards to the transfer news around Europe. and according to him, Andersen is certainly a summer target for Spurs.

Taking to Twitter, Romano said: "Joachim Andersen priority is to stay in Premier League after spending his season on loan to Fulham.

"Tottenham are interested, Andersen is in the list - OL have been approached by several European clubs to sign him on a permanent deal in the summer."

The verdict

This is a huge blow for Fulham.

It always looked highly unlikely that Joachim Andersen would drop down to the Championship but with interest now building it seems like an inevitability.

A move to Tottenham would certainly be a good step in his career, but it remains to be seen whether Lyon would want to sell the player.

If he did move on, you'd imagine that Spurs would be near the front of the queue but this is likely to be a deal that could rumble on deep into the summer months.
