FA confirm length of ban for Aston Villa player

The Football Association have confirmed that Aston Villa will be without midfielder Leandro Bacuna as the 25-year-old is suspended for three games, following an incident in the match against Derby County at the weekend.

The Dutchman crashed into the linesman, Mark Russell, in the latter stages of their victory of the Rams on Saturday and subsequently will miss Villa’s next three matches; Bristol City at home, and trips to Rotherham United and Huddersfield Town.

Bacuna was sent off for his actions, but is lucky for his ban as the FA are cracking down on abuse to match officials.

Leandro Bacuna has been a prominent member of Steve Bruce’s team this year with his 25 appearances.

Similar suspensions include Blackburn Rovers man Hope Akpan appeared to push the referee during their encounter against Sheffield Wednesday, his actions resulted in a four-game ban.

In other news surrounding Aston Villa, midfielder Conor Hourihane is likely to make a return to the first-team following a training ground injury.
