Ian Holloway believes Premier League titans Arsenal will make a move for Charlton Athletic forward Ademola Lookman, according to London 24.
The forward’s emergence from the youth ranks has been one of few bright spots at the Valley this term as they continually battled against relegation.
Ultimately, that was in vein and the Addicks were condemned to League One after a draw with fellow strugglers Bolton last night.
With lower league scouting currently all the rage for the supposed bigger teams in England following the exploits of the likes of Dele Alli and Jamie Vardy, the ex-Blackpool boss believes the 18-year old could well be of interest.
‘The only reason I’d want to go to this game would be to watch Charlton hot prospect Ademola Lookman’, revealed the Football League veteran.
‘They’ll do well to keep Lookman in the summer. He’s going to be a sought-after commodity. The vultures will be circling around him.’
‘He reminds me of Joel Campbell at Arsenal. It wouldn’t surprise me if Arsene Wenger is interested.’
Four goals in 20 games have reportedly seen the former non-league youngster come across the radar of some of the country’s biggest sides.
North London rivals Tottenham are believed to have retained an interest in him after his exploits since a move from Waterloo FC almost two years ago.
The Gunners, meanwhile, do have a history of scouting players from lower down the leagues before making moves.
Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain both rose to prominence with Southampton during their stint outside the top tier, while Aaron Ramsey was nabbed following his promising form for Cardiff City a few years ago.
Is Lookman good enough to be the next lower league sensation to tear up the top tier?
