West Brom midfielder Gareth Barry put in another superb performance last night as he saw Albion to a 2-1 win at Sheffield United.

Barry's goal late in the first half proved the catalyst for a comeback at Bramall Lane, and the former England midfielder then went on to control the second half before Kieran Gibbs bagged the winner with 20 minutes remaining.

And the former Villa and Man City midfielder was keen to praise the travelling Baggies fans following the game, as well as saying how impressed he was with his team's second half showing.

“Christmas is coming, it’s a freezing cold Friday night, and it’s on the TV, so all the players in that dressing room are giving you a big thank-you". Barry told the club's official website.

Barry added that he thought United were the far better team in the opening half an hour in what was a game of high quality at the Lane, but felt his team grew into the game and impressed in the second period.

“The first half an hour they caused us real problems, so to react in the second half to control the way we did was one of our best away performances for a long time.  To learn from the first half, adapt, and control the second is probably the thing that’s going to really please the manager." added Barry.

West Brom went back to third with the win over United and they are now right in the hunt for a top two place in the Championship as they seek an immediate return to the Premier League.

Darren Moore will have no doubt been delighted with the showing of his team in the second period, and he will be keen to see his team kick on during the busy Christmas period.
