According to BBC Radio Norfolk, via BBC Sport, Alan Pardew is not in the running for the vacant managerial role at Norwich City.

Plenty of rumours have recently linked Alan Pardew with the manager job at Norwich after the Canaries parted ways with Alex Neil last week.

Alex Neil had overseen promotion to the Premier League after joining from Hamilton Academical but then he failed to keep Norwich afloat in the top flight the following year.

With many expecting Norwich to be competing at the top end of the Championship this season, they have underachieved and Neil was sacked as Norwich's hopes of reaching the play-offs were significantly dented.

Neil's assistant, Alan Irvine, took caretaker duties last weekend as they drew 2-2 with Blackburn Rovers.

Many reports had been linking Pardew with the manager's job at Norwich but BBC Radio Norfolk claims that he is not being considered.

Pardew has vast experience in the Premier League with the likes of West Ham, Newcastle and Crystal Palace and he took Palace to the FA Cup final last season.
