Nottingham Forest are making waves during the summer transfer window.

Aitor Karanka has already dipped into the transfer pot to bring in seven new players.

The re-signing of Michael Dawson from Hull City on a free transfer was a big hit with fans, whilst Lewis Grabban arrived from Bournemouth for £6million.

The Forest line-up looks like it could well be ready for the start of the season but with three weeks left of the transfer window. There is, however, still some business to be done.

Dawson is somewhat of a sentimental signing for Forest fans having retuned after 14 years since departing for Tottenham Hotspur.

Grabban’s arrival is a sign of intent from Kranaka. The striker knows the Championship and how to score goals.

There are still a few areas Forest will need to improve on ahead of the new season.

Here are three players without clubs that Karanka and Forest should look to snap up ahead of the new Championship season.

The 25-year-old was released from Brighton at the end of last season. The defensive minded player is someone who Karanka could look at as still young enough to improve.

The former Seagull has plenty of Championship experience before the south-coast club made it to the Premier League back in 2017.

He would fit into Forest’s side and allow the more attacking, flair players to flaunt their stuff as the Forest makeover continues to take shape.

The former West Ham and Aston Villa defender would be a stalwart signing for the Tricky Trees.

Extensive Premier League and Championship experience is a key selling point should Kranaka look to sign the former Welsh international.

The 34-year-old is no means near the end of his career and would be a more than suitable replacement for Michael Mancienne who looks set to leave the City Ground.

Should Forest not want to go for James Collins, then Greg Halford is another good option for defensive cover.

The 33-year-old spent three years at Forest before departing for Rotherham in 2015 has a wealth of experience.

Halford has spent time being an auxiliary striker during spells at his previous clubs.

He was a fans favourite at the City Ground and reviving interest in him and bringing him back would be a shrewd but of business.

The former Cardiff man knows how Forest work and it would be a relatively low risk addition, should it happen.
