Sky Bet League Two club Barnet are running the rule over combative midfielder Nicky Bailey, with a view to offering him a deal at the Hive, according to The Barnet and Potters Bar Times.
Bees boss Martin Allen confirmed the news to the publication that the player has been at the club for a trial and a decision would be made based on the player’s performances.
A move to Barnet would see Bailey re-sign for the club where he played 142 times between 2004 and 2007 after joining from non-league Sutton United.
The Putney-born player has been without a club since being released by Millwall at the end of last season following the Lions’ relegation into League One.
The 31-year-old only played eight times last season but boss Martin Allen thinks he could be a decent acquisition for the Bees.
He said: “Bailey has come here to play in a friendly this afternoon and I am hoping he does well.
“He did well at Millwall at the end of last season. He is fit and ready to go now. He hasn’t got a club so we will see how he gets on for us.”
Barnet currently sit in 21st place in Sky Bet League Two, having accumulated ten points from 12 league games so far this season.
