Birmingham City host Aston Villa in what is a huge local derby this Sunday in a game that will see visiting boss Steve Bruce return to his former club. That should make it an even better atmosphere and add to the tension with both sides needing the points for different reasons.

Blues have suffered badly this season, already changing managers and are just one place above the relegation zone. However, despite that precarious position, experienced defender Paul Robinson believes all the expectation is on Aston Villa, who have spent big since relegation to try and get promoted.

There's a lot of pressure on Steve. Aston Villa are a massive club and he knows he's got to produce. He's put together a fantastic squad and they look like they're gelling, but we'll go into it not afraid and know that we can give them a good game and beat them,he told Sky Sports' EFL Matters.

The former West Brom man also revealed that the home crowd are sure to give the players a boost this Sunday lunchtime. “You're at home, the fans are right behind you and it gives you a lift. Every derby game you play in gives you a great buzz. But what it's all about is getting those three points.”

The Verdict

Paul Robinson is unlikely to be involved as a player on Saturday, but he will still help the players given his experience and understanding of the fixture.

Whilst he is saying there's more pressure on Villa, he knows that's not the case. Blues fans will be expecting a win on Sunday despite what the table says.

It's a massive game for both clubs and promises to be an electric atmosphere at St. Andrew's.
