Blackburn Rovers will begin a new chapter in their history in League One next year, with those associated with the club keen to limit this spell to just a single season.

Manager Tony Mowbray is set to stay on with the club despite his inability to save them from the drop, but a noble effort was enough to convince bosses that the former Middlesbrough gaffer was the man for the job.

Set to take charge of his first transfer window at the club, Mowbray has it all to do if he is to build a squad capable of challenging at the top end of the league, and a whole host of new faces are expected at Ewood Park this summer.

Putting together a solid back line will be key to Rovers’ success, and Mowbray will scour the free agency market to find several new additions to his defence.

Michael Turner could be a suitable option for the Lancashire club, with the experienced centre half set to be released from Norwich, when his contract expires at the end of the month.

Mowbray will need an experienced head at the back season to inspire the younger players in the squad, and Turner has what it takes to lead Rovers up the table.

Tall, calm, and imposing, Turner could be a key figure in a Blackburn promotion push.
