Norwich City acclimatised to the Championship after their relegation from the Premier League having finished 14th in their second year in the second tier.

Daniel Farke had had one full campaign at the club to get his bearings and consolidate in the division ahead of the 2018/19 iteration of the Sky Bet Championship.

Now was the time for the Canaries to push on, on a relatively limited budget considering the wealth of the Premier League they left behind.

Players were added to Carrow Road with a view to helping the team sustain a play-off push.

The fourth addition to the club was arguably one of the more recognisable and impressive ones after his exploits the year prior.

And that signing come by way of the permanent capture of Ben Marshall from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Wolves were promoted to the Premier League, and Marshall was deemed surplus to requirements as he moved to Norfolk.

That came after an incredibly impressive loan spell at Millwall in the second half of the 2018/19 season.

The 27-year-old managed three goals and six assists as he helped the Lions finish within a whisker of the play-off places.

That prompted Farke to move for the winger, and naturally, the fans were on board with the addition of the influential wide man.

But the much-anticipated move failed to get off the ground.

When selected, Marshall was deployed as a right-back for the Canaries and, thrice in fact in his four Championship appearances to start his career at the club off in poor fettle.

A place on the bench would be normality for the winger who failed to work his way into the side consistently.

Illness and injury hampered his start at Norwich, and there was no way back from there.

The individual form of his counterparts coupled with his rotten luck saw him fall down the pecking order quicker than he had arrived at the club.

The signing had all the hallmarks of being a shrewd, effective one for Farke but it failed to live up to the billing.

Marshall has since moved back to Millwall on loan once more, which indicates his time at Norwich has been a bust thus far.
