Burnley are set to confirm the signing of Royal Antwerp winger Manuel Benson today as there have been no late complications and he should be in contention for Saturday's game against Luton Town, according to Lancs Live.

The Championship club's pursuit of the 25-year-old has been no secret over the past few weeks as Vincent Kompany looks to strengthen his options in wide areas – with Dwight McNeil sold to Everton and Maxwel Cornet's future unclear.

Lancs Live has now reported that Benson's move to Turf Moor should be completed in the coming hours and is expected to be confirmed today.

The report claims that there were no late complications and that he passed his medical on Wednesday while he should be in contention to make his debut against Luton in the club's first home game of the 2022/23 campaign on Saturday.

It is thought that Benson, who was in the final year of his deal with the Belgian club, will cost in excess of £3 million and is set to sign a four-year deal with the Clarets.

The Verdict

Burnley's summer business continues to impress.

The Clarets have moved quickly to refresh and reinvigorate Kompany's squad this summer and it seems Benson is set to become the 10th new addition.

Though replacing the likes of McNeil and Cornet is a tough ask, as long as he can contribute to a strong promotion push this term you have to think it will be money well spent.

There will be plenty of excitement ahead of Burnley's first Turf Moor game of the season and it seems that may be where Benson gets his debut.
